I met Mike and Soko in late '99, (a few minutes before they met each other). It was after a writing class, and we were talking about one of the assignments, and maybe getting published. As a result of that conversation, we spent a significant amount of time together over the next few years. When Mike was published in '06, those of us who knew him were happy for him, but hardly suprised.
