The Egleston High School’s community is devastated tonight by the lost of one the greatest educators to ever live. K Michael Thompson was a teacher, school leader, and friend, who gave everything he had to provide better educational opportunities for underserved youth in the city of Boston. Michael was accomplished author and published writer. Out of his own initiative, Michael found “Generation Fitness”, a non-profit organization dedicated to raise awareness of fitness habits, nutrition, education, and improved quality of life for inner city youth. He had an amazing gift of working with peoples of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. He was a patient leader who devoted his time to counsel and support students in distress. As a coworker, Michael was a sincere friend who always “lend a hand” in moments of need. At the end of the school day, Michael took time out of his busy schedule to check on people. He always provided a word of encouragement and wisdom in moments of stress and disappointment. He was truly a mentor and a role model to the fatherless and the friendless! I will never forget the joy and the privilege of working with such an amazing human being. Even now, in moments of pain and confusion, I find solace in remembering the strength of your commitment to the marginalized of this world. Your life is an example that will never be forgotten! Your memory will live forever in our hearts. We extend our solidarity to your family. What a blessing to have known you my dear brother and friend! I am forever grateful for your friendship. I love you! Samuel Caraballo
